KR Padmaje
About me
K. R. Padmaje was a well-known novelist of Kannada literature. Her writing was inspired by
social issues around her in 1970s to 1990. She has written novels with varying themes such
as women’s issue, old age problems, romantic stories and biographies. She wrote more than
60 works in her lifetime. He famous books include – “Suprabhata”, “Padmaraga”, “Shubha
Torana”, “aarida Deepa”, Jeevana Raga”, Raga Hamsa”, Badukina Banna, “Vivaha
Bandhana”, “”Mandahaasa”, “Hosa Harusha”, Belliya Chandira”, Megha Maale”,
“Hrudayeshwari”, “Goa dalli Kallaru”, Kogileya Haadu”, “Mohada Mallige”, “Saavina Ale”,
“Anuraga Sindhu”, and many more
Padmaje worked as the secretary of Shantala Arts Academy since 1985 till 2015. She was the
power behind everyday activity of the academy. She took logistics and operations of the
academy. She led senior activities. She was awarded “Sanchi Honnamma” prashasti for
services to Humanity
Padmaje worked as a government schoolteacher and taught thousands of children. She
worked with several social organizations to alleviate issues of society. Her passion for
Dasara dolls lead her to collect more than 15000 dolls for Navaratri exhibitions in her
residence, which attracted hundreds of people. She was instrumental in formulating many
great festivals and events of her children – Prasanna, Pulikeshi and Sushma.
